Are We Clueless?
As if...
Cher was truly an icon that was ahead of her time, and in the year 2025—we are finally catching up. Google has a new AI powered shopping feature that brings us much closer to Cher Horowitz’s legendary virtual closet in Clueless.
At the time, it felt like pure fantasy—a dream for fashion lovers and tech dreamers alike. Now, nearly 30 years later, we are finally seeing the fruits of AI in the fashion world. Google’s latest shopping updates are making these dreams accessible for everyone, not just for Beverly Hills teenagers with designer budgets.
Try before you buy: You can now upload a full-length photo of yourself and actually see how an outfit would look on your body. Just tap the “try it on” icon when you're shopping in Search, Google Shopping, or even Google Images. You’re able to scroll through your looks, save your faves, and come back to them whenever you’re ready.
Wait for your moment…then pounce: You know when you love something but refuse to pay full price? Same. Now you can track a product’s price and tell Google exactly what size, color, and price you’re holding out for. When it hits? You’ll be the first to know.
AI as your personal Mimi Cuttrell: This fall, you’ll be able to get outfit inspo (or room decor ideas) straight from Google’s AI Mode. Just type in what you're going for, and it’ll pull together shoppable options based on your vibe.
With the help of Google’s new smart shopping tools we can track prices and pull inspo straight from your brain to your screen. The days of impulse buys, outfit regrets, and aimless scrolling might actually be behind us.
XO,
Ella
